Humicola


 

Distribution

The genus Humicola is a cosmopolitan fungus isolated from soil and plant material. Humicola is strongly cellulolytic and is very common in soils with high organic matter.

Growth Characteristics

Humicola has a slow growth rate. Colony texture is cottony and the colony color is golden brown.

Microscopic Characteristics

The conidiophores are undistinguished and the spores (aleuriospores) are born directly off the vegetative hyphae or conidiophores. The spores are large, globose or subglobose.

Health Effects

Humicola is not a known human pathogen.
