Scanning Electron Microscopy
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used for the identification, sizing and imaging of particulate and other materials on a micro scale. It is a highly versatile instrument used for many different applications from identifying simple household dust that may contain hazardous components to providing particle size distributions. Forensic Analytical Laboratories utilizes an Aspex 3025 scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and image analysis software.
