Step 7 and 8. This cycle of heating and cooling is repeated 40 times. As the cycles continue, the quantity of target DNA is replicated and increases exponentially, as does the fluorescent signal given off by the probe. Comparing this fluorescent signal to a standard, one is able to quantitate the amount of mold in the sample.
